GPU rental cost: how to estimate your budget
Account for the hourly rate, setup time and storage, then compare configurations by the cost of the result.
Establish what the rate covers
GPU rental offers may quote a rate per accelerator, per server or per multi-node configuration. Check the billing unit and included resources: GPU count, memory per accelerator, CPU, host RAM and storage. Matching GPU names do not establish that two server configurations are equivalent.
In the rentGPU catalog, the displayed rate applies to the whole listed configuration. If a card contains several GPUs or two ASUS GX10 systems, do not multiply that rate by the device count again. Availability and commercial terms require individual confirmation.
Include setup and repeated runs
The basic estimate is the agreed hourly rate multiplied by the billable duration. That duration may include downloading weights, setting up a container, validation, the main job and exporting results. Confirm when billing starts and stops, the minimum duration and rounding rules before starting.
For training, allow time to validate the dataset and run a short trial. For inference, test maximum context and concurrency. Starting a long experiment before these checks can mean rerunning it after an environment error or an out-of-memory failure.
Check storage, transfer and idle time
Ask whether the agreement includes file storage, inbound and outbound transfer, a public IP and backups. Establish whether files persist after shutdown and whether storage between sessions has a separate charge. Resolve these points for the specific rental; a catalog listing does not establish that extra services are included.
Stopping your application and ending the billable rental can be separate actions. Agree on the completion procedure before running the job. Export results and verify that the downloaded files are usable while access is still available.
Compare the same currency and outcome
The rentGPU currency selector changes displayed rates. Compare configurations with the same currency selected and check the total before agreeing to a rental. A storefront conversion does not fix a future exchange rate or replace the commercial terms.
For batch processing, calculate the cost per successfully processed document or image. For an LLM, compare the cost of completing a representative test set at the required quality and latency. A faster server with a higher hourly rate may finish a job at a lower cost, but your measurements need to establish that.
What to prepare for an estimate
Prepare the model link, weight format, dataset size, software environment and preferred dates. Include a short benchmark result if you have one. For a cluster, specify the node count and how the application distributes its work.
Refer to the current catalog for displayed rates. Configurations are on request, and the website form currently operates as a demo: it does not submit data, create a reservation or take payment. A final budget requires confirmed rental terms.
